Hello, I'm JR Kuo

WE SPARK JOY AND HOPE

The Laughter is the Best Medicine Comedy Project brings joy and connection to mental health awareness in Asian and Pacific Islander communities. Our mission is to spark conversations about stress, healing, and resilience through the universal language of laughter. By blending humor with heart, we aim to reduce stigma, celebrate diverse identities, including immigrant, and promote culturally resonant approaches to emotional wellness.

Laughter is the Best Medicine is proudly sponsored by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health as part of the Asian Pacific Islander Underserved Cultural Communities initiative.

Together, we’re proving that laughter truly is healing and that joy can be one of the most powerful tools for community well-being.

What We Do?

HOW WE CELEBRATE?

We’ll host three unforgettable live events featuring local comedians, musicians, and storytellers from across Los Angeles County. These gatherings will highlight Asian/Asian American artistry—from stand-up comedy and music to visual art—and also uplift voices that are often overlooked.

Each event creates a vibrant space where community members can learn, laugh, and connect while gaining access to meaningful mental health resources.

The events will be on:

  1. Sunday, April 5, 2026, in Long Beach
  2. Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Memorial Chapel, Whittier College
  3. Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Covina Theater
