“If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try.”

-Seth Godin

I hiked the Iceland and Island Lakes Trail in mid-August. This is one of the most beautiful hikes that I have ever done in Colorado.  It’s about 8 miles total round trip with 3,000 ft. elevation gain (about the height of two Empire State Building). The trailhead is about 9,700 ft. elevation and the top is at 12,700 ft.  It took us about 6 hours to hike, enjoy the views, and eat our lunch up by Island Lake.

I’ve traveled all over the beautiful State of Colorado and hiked over dozens of trails and mountains, including three 14’ners; one of them is the famous North Maroon Bells outside Aspen. If you enjoy outdoors and hiking, Iceland and Island Lakes Trail is a MUST. It’s a good substitute for 14’ners because at least you can still breathe 🙂
